Our StoryOur Story

FOREIGN AFRICA’s journey is one of evolution, grounded in purpose and refined by passion. It began as the Africa Centre for Foreign Affairs and Security (ACeFaS), a bold initiative rooted in policy discourse and security studies. ACeFaS provided a strong intellectual foundation—offering research, commentary, and advisory support on Africa’s role in international diplomacy and peacebuilding. But we soon recognised that expertise alone was not enough. Policy must meet people. Knowledge must inspire action. In pursuit of this balance, we transitioned into the Policy Institute for International Relations and Security (PIRRES)—a think tank designed to broaden our analytical lens and deepen our policy work. PIRRES expanded our focus to include regional integration, development diplomacy, and multilateralism. It was a time of deep research, institutional collaboration, and international networking. But still, something was missing: the heartbeat of community.

It was from this reflection that FOREIGN AFRICA was born—not just as a think tank, but as a social enterprise, driven by the belief that everyday Africans must be part of the international conversation. We kept our research roots but wrapped them in accessibility, civic engagement, and youth empowerment. We began leading national dialogues, supporting student researchers, and launching social impact projects like the Ghana Governance Dialogue, the Youth Migration Awareness Campaign, and the Foreign Policy Literacy in Schools program.

Today, FOREIGN AFRICA stands as a fusion of rigorous policy research and inclusive social entrepreneurship. We are a hub for learning, action, and change—connecting classrooms with policy spaces, local communities with global platforms, and research with real-world solutions. Our name has changed, but our calling remains the same: to shape a future where Africa speaks, leads, and thrives on the global stage
