Rexford Akrong is a distinguished academic known for his impactful research in agricultural economics and sustainability, particularly within the context of African agriculture. His recent work emphasizes the Rexford Akrong is an international development practitioner who, in various capacities, has supported the implementation of several development and poverty-alleviation projects across Western and Southern Africa. His activities have mainly been in the education and agriculture sectors, with interests spanning youth and women empowerment, digitalisation, rural and urban development, migration, and environment and natural resource management.
Rexford was involved in Monitoring and Evaluation for the Rights to Education and Digital Rights project sponsored by the Open Society Foundations – Africa (OSF Africa). Rexford possesses expertise in developing M&E frameworks to monitor project implementation and impact. He has extensive experience in research management, overseeing the execution of large-scale national research projects in the education and agriculture sectors of developing countries such as Ghana and Benin. Over recent years, he has worked closely with government agencies and ministries to implement transformational development programmes.
Rexford Akrong holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, an Msc in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
