Alhaji Mikdad Mohammed

Mikdad Mohammed is an economic diplomacy, partnerships, investment, and energy policy professional with expertise in deal structuring, investment facilitation, climate finance, strategic partnerships and development cooperation.

He currently serves as Head of Partnerships and Investment at the Energy Commission of Ghana, where he leads the Commission’s engagement with development partners, investors, and bilateral and multilateral institutions to mobilise strategic partnerships, investment, and climate finance in support of Ghana’s energy transition agenda.

Prior to joining the Energy Commission, Mikdad served as Senior Economic and Commercial Specialist Advisor at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Accra, advising on trade, investment, and bilateral relations in Ghana, Togo, and São Tomé and Príncipe. During his tenure, UAE–Ghana bilateral trade grew from US$2.1 billion in 2019 to over US$7 billion by the end of 2025. He managed over US$16 million in UAE humanitarian programs and projects across Ghana and Togo over six years, and played a pivotal role in facilitating the UAE’s US$30 million climate resilience grant to Ghana post-COP28. He also served as the UAE’s local focal person for COP28 for Ghana, Togo and São Tomé, coordinating stakeholder engagement in support of the UAE’s climate diplomacy initiatives.

Before joining the Emirati Embassy, Mikdad worked with the Institute for Energy Security (IES), where he rose to Senior Research and Policy Analyst, having started his professional career at Ghana’s state-owned BOST Energies.

Mikdad holds a Master of Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana, Legon, and has undertaken executive training with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and the Dubai International Chamber of Commerce in investment promotion and international trade.

He is married with two children.
